So… I’ve been sitting on these pictures for a few months..

I guess I never quite knew how to post this project.

In January, I took some rough sawn red cedar planks and was tasked with the humbling job of making a casket that someone would eventually be laid to rest in..

their earthly body anyway…

I have to say that this project still holds a special place within the heart of my business so far. It has been such a privilege to form wood into something my customers can be truly glad about.

This one was special.

I have to share a little bit about how it came about:

A friend of my uncle’s, initially called my uncle to see if he would be interested in making the casket, but knowing I was just launching my own woodworking business, and in his thoughtfulness, he referred his friend to me for the project. This gentleman, a fellow brother in Christ, was seeking to minister and share the love of Jesus with others through offering very affordable but nicely crafted wooden caskets to those who were financially limited. He has sold maybe a dozen in recent years but hadn’t recently. I had this wood in my shop for almost 3 months before I was able to start the project. After about 65 hours of labor on this I finally got it completed, called him to say it was ready for him, and within a couple hours, he got an inquiry from a lady who needed it for her husband.

I was extremely humbled and honored to be a part of all this. This was all definitely a blessing from God.
